About Me

Hi, my name is Yoana Campos. I am a tattoo artist based out of Arlington Texas. My Journey in life has been quite a ride and in the last few years I found myself exploring my creative side. For years I worked in social work and while I enjoyed helping people I sacrificed a lot of myself and never was able to even think of a career in which I could explore my creativity.

Before Covid I decided to walk away from my profession at the time in order to figure out what my next step in life was. My Husband who is also a tattoo artist tried to help me by suggesting I learn graphic design. I always had a keen eye for design and being that his profession before tattooing was graphic design I began to learn graphic design and illustration. We were then hit with the pandemic and I took time to learn design and became a freelance graphic designer. I quickly fell in love with the community of illustrators online. It was such a positive and encouraging group of people. I spent the next couple years illustrating and taking on graphic design jobs for logo design and ad work. While it was fun I quickly realized I really preferred illustration and unfortunately there wasn’t much freedom for me to illustrate doing graphic design in general.

I was at a point now where I felt a bit stuck. I couldn’t quite find enough work illustrating and the work I did find wasn’t always the most thrilling or satisfying creatively. My husband seeing that I enjoyed illustrating mentioned I should attempt tattooing. It was something that was always around. He had tattooed me for years and I had always been around tattooing but never gave it much thought as it seemed like something that was very daunting or even impossible to attempt or learn. I was lucky to have some very supportive friends and my husband motivate me through my journey as an apprentice. My Husband had never had an apprentice but he did everything he could during my apprenticeship to teach me everything I needed. I spent a year apprenticing under him at Urbans Tattoo Studio. I have had great mentors that were so helpful and instrumental in helping me become a tattoo artist. It has been a wild journey but I finally feel like I am somewhere I can put my creative mind to work and create tattoos for awesome clients that will be proud to wear the tattoos I create for them. I am now a full time resident artist at Urbans tattoo studio north. I enjoy doing all tattoos but specifically I love doing color illustration, anime, dot work, floral, and Neo traditional style tattoos. Email me with any questions about your project. I take great pride in my work and love meeting new clients.
